Dear reader,

Following the request issued by members of the OGC SWE working groups, SANY team decided to submit two public SANY deliverables as OGC Discussion Papers:

• D2.3.4 "Sensor Service Architecture V3" has already been submitted, as discussion paper No. 09-132r1
  
• SANY "D3.3.2.3 Fusion and Modelling Architectural Design V2" has been slightly updated to reflect latest findings and will be submitted in a couple of days.

Both documents are available for immediate download at SANY web site.

OGC Discussion Papers are documents that present technology issues being considered in the Working Groups of the Open Geospatial Consortium Technical Committee.

SANY consortium is pleased to announce the publication of the SANY book on "Open Service Architecture for Sensor Networks".

The "SANY book", which will be officially presented at the final SANY event on November 19^-th 2009 in Linz/Austria, provides high level information to SANY, SensorSA and Sensor Web Enablement for decision makers and technical managers. This book also provides an entry point to SANY and SensorSA for technical readers interested in environmental monitoring and risk management.

With the end of the project nearing, it is time to show the results, discuss the "lessons learned", and think about the life after SANY IP. SANY consortium is pleased to invite you to following events:

On February 11-th and 12-th 2009, SANY IP team organised a hands-on training on “Building Environmental Monitoring Systems with SensorSA”. The presentations and some photos are available in our "bibliography" section.

On 3-rd and 6-th of April, SANY Partner ETHZ will organise two additional hands-on trainings dedicated to publication and visualization of the sensor data on the Web with the "Map and Diagram Service".

On February 11-th and 12-th 2009, SANY IP team will organise a hands-on training on “Building Environmental Monitoring Systems with SensorSA”.

The intention of the workshop is to teach the participants which SensorSA-compliant software components are available, and how to configure and deploy them. Furthermore, the workshop will show how OGC Sensor Web Enablement services are used within SensorSA, and how to build a complete SensorSA-compliant Environmental Monitoring Network.

Sensor Service Architecture (SensorSA) developed by SANY IP (www.sany-ip.eu) allows building of complete Environmental Monitoring Networks (EMNs) from standard-compliant components. On February 11th – 12th February 2009, SANY IP will organise a hands-on training for developers and service providers of in-situ Environmental Monitoring Networks.

Three weeks from now, the SANY IP will organise a "SANY/SSE" training event. This event is co-sponsored and hosted by ESA/ESRIN on their premises in Frascati/Italy.

The SANY/SSE training concentrates on compatibility of the SensorSA (which primarily targets the in-situ sensors) with IT-infrastructure and Geospatial Information Services used by Earth Observation community.

Participation is free of charge and open to all interested parties within a limit of available places. Please read on for more information and instructions for registration.
